Controversial Art

Piss Christ is a controversial photograph by U.S. artist Andre Serrano. It shows a small plastic crucifix supporting the body of Jesus Christ submerged in the artist's urine. Rumor has it the glass also contains the artists blood. The piece was a winner of the Southeastern Center for the Contemporary Arts "Awards in the Visual Arts" competition. Piss Christ is also used as a test case for the idea of freedom of speech.

Controversial Art

1) "In God We Trust" is the piece of art created by a local artist name Peter Nichols, when he was in art school. Now-a-days that piece is at the Portland International Airport catching everybody's attention. The piece has been called "Christian Bashing" by its critics. It is not so favourite art work to Americans. People thinks it as little rough and little violent. Most of the people thinks that the artist is Anti-American. Although in his explanation, Nichols said that the skull represents a death, the oil barrel represents the intent of the war, the rifles signify war, and the crosses on the border represents those who have lost their lives. On the other hand, many of the veterans thinks the art is disrespectful.

2)
This is one of the deadly- art piece created by Gregor Schneider, a German artist. He calls for already- dying volunteers to lay in an art gallery, alone, in view of uneasily curious onlookers who anticipate nothing more than for the subject to take his or her last breath, so Schneider can simply capture what he calls, “the beauty in death.” Controversy arises when critics and art lovers mutually suggest that the German artist is doing nothing more then making a mockery of death. Some people think that the world has abortion and death as art, it’s funny how [artists] never seem to bring life into the world as art [anymore]. They says that, artists should give people a new hope to live life freely instead of capturing them in to some art piece with a sad feeling. Overall, many critics thinks that Schneider work insults human value.

Diorama Drama: Ethan Harrison

A diorama that taught me something was the one that was against protesting war at soldiers funerals.

A diorama that was very creative was the one that was about the shoe company that is helping feet diseases.

A diorama that made me think more deeply about an issue was the no smoking diorama.

A diorama that i oppose is the one about sports that liked Michael Vick.

The diorama that i opposed but understood where he was coming from was the diorama that was pro war.

The artist or the Pro War diorama was very bold. Because that is a very sensitive subject right now.

I felt very constructive making i diorama about an issue.

I felt proud to have people to look and comment on my diorama.

The create process made me feel artistic.
